knocking noise

i have a 1999 honda civic ej and its running ok i guess. i have a problem though.. i will be cruising in 5th gear and if im under 3 rpms and try to punch it it makes a real bad knocking noise. so if you guyz know anything about this please message me back.

Check all fluid levels first, but it sounds like a detonation problem. I would try running seafoam through with the gas. That will loosen up carbon buildup in the cylinder head/piston area. NAPA and autozone sell it....

do a compression test to see if all your cynliders are healthy or not. knocking noise usually means a bad rod which could end up being a blown motor if not taken care of

any power loss? anything else that is going wrong with the car? a rod would knock like that as well.

is it a knocking or more of a ticking.

im thinking you guyz are right about the rod knockin... so i guess its time for a rebuild.. what do you guyz think??
