Default low rpm power.

i notice when i really get on it in my 98 EX i can feel the "power band" from 5500 to 6500 rpms but anywheres before 5000 i feel like im bogged down and just waiting for it to get going. Whats the most efficient way to get more low rpm power?

intake/ header/exhaust, possibly a cam that has power all through out the power range

i was told that intake/header/exhaust helps out between the 4000 to 6000 rpm range.

yeah...Honda = zero low end torque...sorry.

Tiny little turbo can clear that up fairly quick though

not incorrect, but not completely correct, either. While it is true that most intakes make power in the upper rpms (since most engines don't outflow their stock intakes until the mid-range rpms), there are many headers and exhausts that provide low-end gains. For instance, 4-2-1 headers are designed to gain more power in the lower rpm's than 4-1 headers. Also, many exhaust systems are designed to gain power throughout the entire rpm range. Twin-loop mufflers, for example, are designed for power over a broad power range.

At any rate, the reason you feel "bogged down" is because it's a civic. If you want "real"low-end power (real is in quotes because we're dealing with hondas... they just don't make that much torque lol), you're going to want to do an engine swap. If all you want is torque, I've heard b20's and H22's are absolute torque monsters.

If you don't want the hassle of swapping engines, I'd say just get a short-ram intake, 4-2-1 header, and a nice cat-back (and maybe a stage I cam). Actually, screw the intake. Just make yourself a set of ITB's
