LS block, B16 head

k well...ive been looking into different combos i could potentially do. right now im looking at an ls block (because the stroke islonger than the gsr) and put on a vtec B16 head. anyone have any advice on thi sor any other suggestions?

I dont like that as much as the GSR for a couple reasons.

1)Longer stroke although is more displacement is not as high rpm friendly. In the DSM/Evo world alot of guys actually destroke their cars and then bore them bigger, unfortunatly we cant do that cause of the open deck design we have.

2)The GSR has a main crank girdle which the LS does not.

3)The GSR has oil squirters which the LS does not.

In the end, basically a GSR block is ready to stand up to the high rpms the head is and the LS block was never really meant to rev that high.

I am not a big fan of the LS VTEC but for the budget route you really cant argue with it a whole lot. Although it sounds like you are going to chose between the 2 and want the best one.

also, the gsr motor is factory zero-balaced, and the LS is not. thats why a dohc vtec can rev to 8k+ daily with no problems, but an LS/VTEC will eventually eat itself. and usually, theres nothing left when it gives up.

Are you going turbo? Casuse the GSR with a B16 head is a great choice for turbo cause it will slightly lower compression but if your not then you will lose some power there.
