ls/vtec redline question

I'm talking for a friend of mine since he doesnt go on forums.

He's planning on buying a b16 head to do a ls/vtec conversion on his LS integra. He has a stock b18b block with a stock b16 head and where about to buy the Golden Eagle conversion kit but if we buy just only that, how high are you allowed to rev the motor (safely)?

RE: ls/vtec redline question

you arent "allowed" to rev it to anything. i'de suggest keeping it to below 8200 (stock b16)

RE: ls/vtec redline question

actually i reccommend a little lower just because of the block

RE: ls/vtec redline question

if i were to do the ls/vtec swap, id spend money to build the block. the ls has a good amount of torque but isnt meant to rev as high. definitely would not take it to 8200. The b20 is even worse because of the thin walls and i wouldnt rev that past 6200rpm

RE: ls/vtec redline question

so whats the max safest redline for a stock ls/vtec? isnt it like 7k? since thats almost the same redline as a stock LS?

RE: ls/vtec redline question

id rev it to the stock LS redline only untill you get some rod bolts. As for the B20 thing, I have 2 friends revving their stock B20VTEC to 8500rpm daily with no problems yet (going on about 4 months for one, and almost 2 years for the other)
