Mini me swap for 1989 hatch

I have a 1989 civic i just bought. The pistons are all messed in it. SO the the thing i thought first to do was to just go get a new engine. well the guy who sold it to me talked to me bout doing a mini me swap. I get the basics of it by puttin in a v-tech. But how much power does it really add and for around what price would it total be? Also any tips for starting it and anythingare appreciated.

doing a mini-me isnt gonna fix your pistons. it might make them worse because of the added stress

ya i didnt mean like a head swap. he was saying somthing like a full swap for the new v tech. like twice the size or something. i'm kinda new to cars i mean i just barely turned 16 but ya do you get what i mean with the full engine thing?

yes i get what you are saying. The motor will drop right in, might need to change a motor mount and wire up the vtec so it will work, other than that its a straight forward swap that a lot of people do.

buy the vtec motor and turbo that, dont waste your time on a vtec head on a non vtec black when you can do it right and just swap the whole motor

if you gonna do a motor swap i suggest a dohc vtec like a b18c1 but get your car converted to obd1 and run a cable tranny.

well first is your car a dx or a si???? if its a dx you need to make a muti port injection set up. then you can decide what motor, doing a vtec swap , i would say NO STAY AWAY there good motors and all but not worth it besides, you need to convert you car from obd0 to obd1, change computer, you need the head and block from a d16z6, a distribtor, then you need to hook up your vtec.can be a head ache in a 89, has for a b series if you have the cash i would say yes, little more coastly the a d16z6, and a little more involed, but well worth the time, you need axles, shifter linkage, ecu, cable tranny which are kinda hard to find, only came in 90 91 teggys, motor mounts, and some other minor stuff. or you can opt to do a dohc zc, there like 900 on ebay and 128hp stock they drop right in no mods, can use your tranny you have now. all of these motors can hold boost the b and zc in my opinon better then the d16z6. but hey thats just me
