More performance

hi guys I have a 1997 civic coupe with a D16Y7 engine. Chass EJ6.The car is soooooo lazy. (I was passed by a 1300cc). One of the guys at the local dealer said that they were all like that.
What I want to know is if there is anything I can do the get a better performance from the car.
Specs. 4 cylinder 16 valve 1600cc. SOHC, NON VTEC.

Well, You could do a mini me swap (Vtec head from an EX (d16y8) on your block), boost or swap. You have a good amount of options. Just depends on how much performance you want and how much you want to spend.

swap the head, tranny, and intake manifold for the ones on the EX. you will feel a good gain in power and quite a significant gain in speed.

Thanks guys I will see what the cost of these things are but the swapped head, tranny, and intake manifold on the EX sounds like a good first option at the moment.
