is my vtec kicking????
 

hey. how do i know my vtec is working????? i installed muffler and cold iar intake and i feel no kick and no change in sound after all. what can i do to activate it and feel it and know it is working??? at what rev it kick in?? i have a 95 civic ex, d16z6 engine

what i do is star in first gear..switch to second in like 5000 rev and full throttle in secod till reach red line.. is that correct?? or maybe is becasue my muffler is kind of loud and i dont hear it?????

Your engine doesnt have a real noticeable VTEC sound since its not a DOHC VTEC. But you're doin the right thing and its probably ok. I have an 02 EX and the VTEC is very subtle when I need to get up an go.

VTEC isnt THAT great. Its not going to sound that loud unless you have a GSR or above. on sohcs vtec is not noticeable

Because it adds a little power? Im not sayin VTEC doesnt do anything, but its nothing THAT great. I have a SOHC Vtec motor and im running a 19T turbo at 10psi on it, and I cant really tell when vtec is kicking in.

mini me swaps are for heads that are non-vtec, like the d15y engine i do believe, please correct me if im wrong as i dont know all that much about em. but being that u have an ex and have vtec, u dont need a mini-me swap...

dude idk if the wiring for the eg's are the same as the EK's but this should help if u want to REALLY know when vtec hits

LOL I know mine is working, I dont need some light to tell me so, im just sick of people making it seem like you get tossed into your seat when it kicks in
