what year/model is the engine harness from

To wire VTEC, you will either need some pigtails or you can just run two wires through the firewall, to the ECU, one coming from the VTEC solenoid and the positive wire from the VTEC pressure sensor. Be sure to ground the negative side of the VTEC pressure sensitive to somewhere on the chassis. Route the VTEC solenoid wire to socket A8 and the pressure sensor to socket C15 (at the ECU)

he needs the obd1 ecu pin out.

you can do this 2 ways. this is the first one.

first of all, what ecu are you gonna run w/ your motor. if it's the jdm ecu, all you need to wire is the single wire vtec. the vtec pressure switch in the jdm ecus are already built in.
if you are running jdm ecu:
on your ecu harness connector, locate the ecu connector A. this plug has 26 pin. once you find it, you will have to run the vtec wire to location A4.
this is how you count the pins:
1 3 5 7 9 >>>>>>>25
2 4 6 8 10>>>>>>>26

if you are running a usdm vtec ecu, vtec pressure switch needs to be wired. do everything in step 1. after that, locate ecu connector D. this connector have 22 pins. once you find it. you will have to run the power wire to D6. the other wire is ground. tap it into any other ground wire.

NOTE: you will need extra ecu pins.

this is the 2nd method. i prefer this one over the first one. it looks more clean and OEM.

the PIC below is the upper connector on your passenger side shock tower under your hood. now, assuming the VTEC motor you just swapped in came with the engine harness intact, the 2 spots I am pointing to should not be plugged.

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/7397/vtecbp9.jpg

It should now look like this:

http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/687/vtec1eb1.jpg

so, the upper Green/yellow wire is the VTEC spool solenoid, and the lower Blue/black is the pressure switch

now you need to run wires from your stock ECU harness to the back of that plug where they are still blank.

if your EG is a 92, the work has been done for you and you need nothing more. However if yours is 93 up and not an EX/Si you will need to salvage 2 pins from a junked harness and 2 from a junked plug.

try to pull the pins from the harness and plug with atleast 2 to 3 inches of the wire still on those pins for ease of splicing. On the "parts" harness, undo the "keeper clip" that folds down securing the pin seats in place, use a needle or a pin puller to release the pins from positions A4 and D6.

plug those into your harness in the perspective locations, splice enough wire to run to the shock harness.

now, salvage two of the pins from the plug harness and those go to the blank spots on your car. Make sure that the one that has the Green/yellow wire on the engine side mates with the wire you ran from A4 on the firewall side, and the Blue/black with the D6 wire.

Simple enough right! Good luck and I hope this helps!!!

is this for the 92-95 obd1 ?? cause mine dosent have the same amount of pins as there in the diagrams?? mine only has the top two rows on the ecu so would wiring be the same?

RE: need help wiring vtec

that pin out that marty posted is not for your car. you need to follow the instructions that i posted.

yeah i got it but i didnt quite understand where u got the d pins from?? i only have 3 say a b and c but no d this is for p08 ecu so if u could explain. i alredy got the jdm d15b in and started and it purrs lol . although i am getting a cel so would not having vtec on do this ??
