I am starting my swap in my 97' Civic. I am putting in a D16Z6 and i need to know if i can use my oil pan of my D16Y8 so i can still use the brackets that go from the tranny to the oil pan or will i have to use the D16Z6 oil pan and go to honda and buy the brackets? I am using the tranny that is currently in the car, the original one.

 

why swap an OBDI into an OBDII?

I think they should. I believe that the same size motors have interchangeable parts

nope(sorta)........pan sumps are different heights between the 2 engines. also 2 studs on the z6 oil pumps are in different locations in comparison to the y8. you can remove the studs and bolt the pan up, but your oil level readings would be wrong.
