ok so as most of you know i sold my b16 to get some extra cash to fix my car(got stolen) and im almost done with the body work and im ready for motor work. i got about 1k left and i need to do sumthin because my engine is not doing well, i think my rings are bad because i get no compression and smoke out the tailpipe, its leaking oil(i think its my v/c gasket) and a few other things. not to mention i got the 4 speed manual transmission. any suggestions on either fixing this old d15b1 or getting a new motor and tranny?

 

seems like you could pick up a Z6 or y8 for $1K couldnt you?

 

I think you should do a mini-me swap. Probably a z6 VTEC head that has the better z6 intake manifold, with a throttle body, and the solenoid. But, hey, that's just my opinion. lol

 

yeah i could do the mini me but i dont know what all i would need besides what you got dan. and the zc/y8 option is hard because there are not many around here for sale. any more suggestions while i look into the mini me swap?

 

Being you think your rings are bad I would consider rebuilding or getting a new block.You could probably find a complete z6 somewhere.

 

my block should be ok, its the head im worried about.

call around, you can pickup a complete y8 or z6 for less than $1k with tranny & ecu

you'll need some other parts to make the swap (probably new clutch master & slave cylinders), but everything else will bolt right up for the most part

 

i know i dont want to spend the whole 1k though if i can help it, imma probably do a mini me swap and get me a 5 speed tranny from a buddy
