Just got a 98 Honda Civic Ex. Got headers, cold air intake, new pulleys.. I wanna do something big. My friend says i should do an engine swap. what do u guys suggest.

a turbo will make it so you have to get rid of your CAI and header. an engine swap will make you get rid of your header. turbos cost less and have a bigger initial gain but generally have a lower breath of expansion, engine swaps run more and usually start with less power but are generally more expandable.

turbo now and down the road learn how to do a motor swap, dont want to bit off more than you can handle right away

id say turbo because the Y8 can be made into one hell of an engine.

i have a friend of mine that had a stock d16y8 in a 4 door civic and put 12 psi into it for over a year, the only thing that happend was he had to replace a few head gaskets, eventually blowing the motor upon a miss shift and fuel cut becieds that the d series motor is a good motor to boost within reason lol

^^thats impressive. whas he running a full system? IE intercooler...BOV...all the parts that arent nessecarilly needed?

yes front mount with a 1st gen dsm BOV,

he later eventually after he broke it, rebuilt it with all new internals and everything then machined a head off of b18c non-vtec and made that set up run. was quite impressive next time he's in town i'll get pics and more info
