Need swap information
 

Hey guys I'm new to the forums, and I need some info about an engine swap I might be doing here come spring. I got a red 92' civic si hatchback and I need to know a little more about each engine I want to put a B18 in it But I dont know if I will have enough room for the intercooler, skunk 2 intake manifold ect. So it's either that or I just go with the B16A and go that direction I have been looking on www.jpecautosports.com looking at the prices and such and its about another extra $1000 for the B18 compared to the B16 here is the link for the B16 I am looking at buying B16. I bought the car off of a local kid and I know he used to beat the living crap outa the engine so im worried about it going out on me. Its got Full Greddy turbo on it along with all the fuel management and ect. And im afraid when I take the turbo off it might be junk so I might have to buy a whole new turbo system and everything so I'm just trying to get some information about the swap before I decide to do it. More or less how hard its going to be between the two. And the difference in max power I could get outa the two.

the powr between b16 and b18 are not that much different, but a b16 is about 2k cheaper, and with a turbo and the other parts you mention it would be damn fast

My friend keeps telling me that if I do the B18 It's gonna be "so much faster" but the only difference between the 2 is about 10hp. But yet again the B18 is a 1.8L opposed to a 1.6L but I dout it could be "so much faster" but who the heck knows. The only thing I know is that It's not gonna be run N/A for long.

I KNOWS. about 1.5 seconds faster on the drag strip. stock EM SIs run mid-high 15s (.7 area). calebs EG DX with a GSR swap runs low-mid 14s easy. now take into account that he has a CAI and an aftermarket clutch (i think?) you could put it at 14.6ish. but thats still a whole second. torque does make a difference.

the B16 block doesnt have much of a smaller footprint than a B18. its mostly the same block with a longer stroke on the b18.

You should consider the H22. Awesome motor I'd even give you some pointers.

Yea he did say he wanted PWR steering too. Yea room is a huge problem. But you can get awesome power.

yeah but in the end you can get more power from a GSR or SiR. more aftermarket support. and you have more room in the engine bay.

Yea But GSR and SIR are more for the N/A aspect Unless you build the motors bullet proof they wont last thats all Im saying.

ur joking right? GSRs and SiRs are the most commonly swapped engines just because they can go either N/A or FI. the H22 isnt a better engine for boost than a GSR and i have no idea where you got that idea.

and B internals are for the most part stronger than Hs. the H block is crazy strong but internals really arent that much better than a B
