Default New 2012 civic hf oil change

I bought a new civic hf this weekend, the salesman did not know much about the car and told me a lot of wrong info. But I had already researched the car and they had the lowest price at 17,500 so I bought it, He said Honda uses Synthetic oil from the factory, some how I dont think this is correct . What type of oil do u guys recommend and when should I complete my first oil change? Thanks

I'd check your owner's manual - it very well could be a synthetic (and a light oil at that) since they're trying to squeeze gas mileage out of that engine.

The old rule of thumb was that you didn't run synthetic for the first 20k miles or so, but I keep hearing about more and more new cars coming with synthetic from the get-go (don't ask me which ones - I'm not sure at the moment).

i work at a auto parts store.... and synthetic oil IS used in newer cars. the particles are smaller in synthetic. conventional oil is cheap. use royal purple! i would use it if i were you. also oil changes are easy and i would do one if you think u need one. last thing: tell the dealer to hire a new guy.
