newb question?

i guess this is a really newbie question, but what does changing your cams do exactly for increasin performance? i guess i grasp a general concept, but a technical sense?

any help would be appreciated

RE: newb question?

There are several different cam profiles that are out there. The general idea is to open the valves more and longer to get more fuel and air in the combstion chamber. There are also better overlap (where exhast and intake are open at the same time) cams and turbo cams that have little to no overlap. What kind of car do you have and what are your long term plans with it and we can help you choose a cam.

RE: newb question?

towards december im going to swap out my d15b8 (still awhile to go) with an h22a. i plan on goin FI sometime in the future, but that all depends on how much cashis flowing in. what cam profile would be best for the short run?

Ive also decided to go the NA route. If you guys could help me pick out a cam for my h22 I would greatly apreciate it. I know next to nothing about the N/A path =(

RE: newb question?

go with Stock JDM type R cams from a JDM prelude these cams make stupid sick power while still retaining the easy drivabilty and comparable milage of a B18C

I dont think you could afford prelude type R cams. ;) Look for some type S cams though, those are pretty nice

skunk2 or i think Blox has theirs out for the H22. but plan on droppin some dough on the valvetrain. then you can go with the higher stages and get a lot more power.
