Nice lil story
 

I figure I'll post a nice story to entertain you guys with what I spent the whole last week doing.

It started out last Saturday (the 21st) driving down Route 100, my fuel pump decieded it didnt want to pump fuel anymore, leaving me on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck for 3 hours.

Get the car into mine and my buddies garage and drop the tank down, while doing this we figured HEY might has well replace the leaking head gasket too. So we get the new fuel pump and tank back in (it help that I hadn't filled up yet either) and tear the head off. You can take a look at how bad things were for yourself in the pics. So we get it all cleaned up and put back together. STILL LEAKING!!!!!!

So now we drop the oil pan, replace gasket, pull valve cover, replace gasket, dried up hard as a rock o ring on distributor, replaced o ring, pulled valve springs, replaced valve seals (that was fun!!! *hint of sarcasim there*) and then put everything back together. YAY no more oil leaking BUT it is still burning oil so the only thing left now is the piston rings which we said NOPE not on this POS D15 80HP junk motor. (The only reason we did all the other stuff is so it'll last me til we finish building our LS/V-TEC motor.

Pay close attention to the picture with my ring in it. I put my ring in there to show comparsion of size, those are the valve spring retainer keepers, VERY EASY to lose, also very easy to drop inside the motor, if you do your own valve job be very careful not to drop these. One of those pen magnets that extend work the best for remove them and inserting them.

what did u use to clean the block so well?

I call them cookie wheels. They are little wheels they are made out of Scott Brite stuff you just use on your cutt off wheels, again another reason having compressed air came in handy. They have blue ones and browns ones, use the blue ones for aluminum and the brown ones for steel.

man i never had that problem with my old civic i feel reeaal bad for you 90civtegra hope you get that ls/vtec done soon bet you wont be having those problems. wel for a very long time
