Noob Question
Hey guys so as any of you who have seen my questions before im new to cars and driving etc. So im trying to learn as much as I can from you guys since your all really chill and helpful.
Anyways so I have an 08 Civic LX.... What would be the minimal, simple thing I can do to get some more power out of my engine? Like if I want to increase the horsepower...I dont really know what would be the term but hopefully someone understands me. Thanks guys! |
best way to start is with I/H/E (Intake/Header/Exhaust) (not just a muffler either, that adds 0 hp)
also please try using the search feature, this topic has been covered a lot |
But it adds 10 db of noise. Makes it sound faster lol.
|
Sorry I will use the search next time,
Ok so how much does it usually cost to get that bought and installed? How much power gain will I get out of it? |
Intake depending on if you go with a short ram intake or cold air intake will run you between 30 - 250 bucks (no name short ram - AEM cold air) and will give you between 1 - 5 hp.
A header will run you between 30 - 500 (ebay knock off - Spoon) and give you between 5 - 15 hp(very rare but I have seen that much gain from header with supporting mods) Exhaust will run you from 100 - 700 (ebay knock off - Greddy or Apexi) and give you between 5 - 15 hp (depending on piping size and supporting mods) Labor for everything will vary greatly depending on where you get it installed at and what their hourly rate is. |
So after all is said and done this could add somewhere between 11 - 35hp to my car?
|
after all is said and done you will probably get maybe 5hp. Turbo is really the only way to get major hp gains

please dont spread misinformation. Its NOT the only way to get major hp gains |
His 2008 R-series engine has the exhaust manifold mostly incorporated into the head, so a header is not really possible.
