Anybody have a Y8 headed mini-me? What octane do you run? I've calculated the CR for my engine I'm putting together, calculates out to ~ 10.82:1 w/ the Y8 head gasket. I've mainly messed with older V8s in the past, and realize that with aluminum heads this would work with 93 octane, how good is the quench on the Honda head? Does 89 or 91 work on this combo? Can I run the D15B7 gasket? That would lower me down to 10.50 : 1. OR am I going to really need to run the Z6 head if I want to keep using lower octane. Thanks.

 

87. I have a d16y8, and Im running 87. You only really need a higher octane if your high on boost.

 

But the d16y8 isn't the same as a D15w/ a Y8. Atleast a 1.0 difference in compression.
