Default oil leak between trans and engine

I changed the oil in my Civic yesterday. I saw fresh oil leaking where the transmission and engine meet. It wasn't there when I last changed the oil in my car so I know it's new. Plus, the amount of oil that got drained wasn't a lot.

Anyone know what seals are worn and how difficult it is to replace the seal or seals.

First off what year and model of car do you have? And how high on the engine is it? It may be a rear main seal. But I dont want to miss guide you at all. It also maybe coming from inside of the tranny. Thats the only way you can find the leak.

yeah I'd say rear main seal too... it's behind the flywheel, so you'd have to drop the tranny, etc.
I saw it done on a Neon once, pretty straightforward, but the engine was out of the car at that point

i have a suggestion....make sure that u didnt just spill fresh oil onto that spot. u say that its fresh, and it wasnt there before. so wipe it clean and check it agian after a day or two.

take this advice before you start taking your engine / tranny apart. main seal usually last quite a while

Well, I've had this problem (real main seal worn out) with a couple of other cars, but I've always brought it to a garage to get it done.
It's a 95 Civic DX, 1.5 engine, 185+K miles
Anyway, the oil isn't leaking heavy now. I noticed it on the transmission housing, not the ground.

Is your clutch slipping at higher RPM?
I ask because I just rolled 176K and got a small leak...I slip at 4000RPM, but normal granny driving is ok.
