oil leak problem... engine flush???
 

Hey i woke up this morning and found at least a quart of oil under my car.... my friend said its pprob. the oil pan seal.... i was wondering if i plan to take the oil pan off.....should i flush my engine and clean it??? or just clean it???
my car had about 145,000 miles on it and it says you shouldnt flush engines with over 150,000..... am i cuttin it too close?>?

I had this problem before, but not a puddle of oil. It just could be ur seal and to get to it u'll have to pull the whole trany out...
Mind as well flush it.

stick your head under the car and look if u can see where the oil is leaking from.

if the oil pan gasket/seal is the problem just drain the rest of the oil and take the pan off, clean the gasket surfaces, install new gasket/seal and put it all back together.


and if u have lost about a quart of oil i'd probably would drive your car very far unless it still had enough oil in the engine for obvious
reasons.

and importlegends im not sure what you are talking about pulling the tranny and which seal u get at by doing so??

First change the drain plug, thats the cheapest possible problem. Unless u see the oil coming from the oil pan seal, then just replace that. There are 12 or so nuts on there, take em off, drop the pan, new gasket and put the nuts back.
