Painting Valve cover, Can i clean anything inside?
 
hey im taken my valve cover off and painting it. Now i know im replacing the gasket on it. But is there anything i can do for like 40 bucks or something that will help power wize while its off. Or anything i can do to clean it alittle or check on anything. You know what i mean? Thanks

adjust the valve clearence. get a shop manual and follow along with the instructions perfectly.

no, its not real easy, but it is free and should be done anyway. the valve stems get worn down slightly over time and so you adjust the rocker arm( which opens the valve) to push it down as far as it is supposed to. there is a small amount of space you have to leave, its around .007 of an inch, this leaves room for the valve and rocker arm to expand when it heats up. you can do it if you get a haynes manual and follow the instructions. make sure the engine is totally cold when you do it. some things you can do without reading the instructions, this is NOT one of them.
