Default Is this possible?

Would it be possible to get about 170-180hp out of my D16Y7 while staying NA? If so, how should i go about it? and if not then what is the most i could squeeze out of this little motor? This would just be for my D.D. so i don't need a crazy fast car. Just something thats fun to drive. So far, I have Intake And an axel-back exhaust (full Apex'i WS2 catback coming soon, followed by a 4-2-1 Header)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

No, for the most part, you won't be able to get that much power without boost or nitrous. As far as gaining power N/A, you'll want a high-flow cat to supplement your header and exhaust; the stock cat just becomes a bottleneck in the system. Also, getting a high-performance camshaft gains a good bit of power, too. Unfortunately, cams are really selective in their peak power ranges (usually a 1,000-2,000 rpm range).

anything can be done if you have the money to pay for it. its not practical to try to do that N/A on that motor IMO.

i would spend the money and swap or boost.

you are gonna have to go internaly to get a goal like that. high comp pistons, shaved head, ported polished, intake manifold/throttle body etc. basicly a fully built motor

^right, even then, I don't forsee you making those numbers. Plus, it'd be way cheaper to just do a swap

Ahh, i see. So what is the most naturally aspirated horsepower i could make within reason, and without spending more than a swap would cost?

How about if you cant answer the guy dont post, he did not ask what to swap in or anything about boost or spray. Ok man first off you need to get a Y8 head and do a mini me, use the Y8 head, 99/00 Y8 automatic intake manifold, and a 96-98 ex manual ecu. Before putting the head on I suggest you have it shaved and a valve job done on it along with any porting and polishing you want done. I would use the www.akmee.com type r sohc valve terrain kit, it is not list for sale yet but you can email them and they will sale it to ya. You may want to upgrade your transmission to a 92-00 ex unit as it has shorter gears anyway. Go ahead and use a stg 1 replacement clutch or maybe a stg 2 excedy. Run a light weight flywheel but not to light, a stock flywheel shaved to around 13lbs would be ideal. Run a good header like a bisimoto or hpracing 4-1 design. If you are willing to do the work you could fab up some ITB's also out of cbr 600f3 throttle bodies. With out the throttle bodies and with a good intake and exhaust setup you could see mid 140's on the whp and run deep into the 14's in the 1/4 mile with that if you shave a little weight.

That sounds good to me Marty. (and i do plan to lower my car and do suspension after a little more power-increasing items). thanks a lot though. that really helps.
