How much HP could I get if removed and would it drive tighter. I have a problem when I get up to about 100-120 the steering gets real light and jumpy, it does not feel save could it be i need wider tires or could i fix it with taking off power steering or maybe some other after market steering thing, i dont know, its just my last car 91 mazda MX6 would go 145 maybe more and steering was nice and tight not loose, and my friends preludes, drive tight also, but then again totaly differ and driving capabilities. Help me out please.>

RE: Power Steering??

My Civic didn't come with PS, and I think it does better without, especially at high speeds (at least for a 4G). The thing about Honda power-assist steering is that is greadually lessens the amount of assistance it provides depending on how fast you're going, but it can only do it so much, so at 90 to 100+, the steering will feel really disconnected and squirrely. I would take it off if I were you, but it also depends on what gen you have.

Also, a good suspension system will help a lot...

I just took my belt off and have not had any problems it feels more responsive at high speeds not squirely at all.

personally, i would just get an underdrive pulley for it. then you still have it when you are parallel parking, but it should tighten it up a little.

Yeah I've been meaning to ask about underdrive pulley kits. I've been planning to get the Unorthodox Racing pulleys, but can't decide which kit. They have one kit that just has pulleys for the crank and alternator, and they say it has an average hp gain of like 10 or something. But then they have a more expensive kit that comes with crank, alternator, p/s, and compressor, but they say it only has average hp gains of like 6 hp. Shouldn't it be the opposite?

dont do the crank pulley. they dont have any provisions for stopping harmonic vibrations. if you want a performance crank pulley, get the fluid dampner.

will the belts that come with the kit still fit if i leave on the stock crank pulley?

Have you checked out AEM's pulley kit. http://www.aempower.com/product_pulley.asp

Definitely do not get the Unorthodox set and use the Crank Pulley. You will ruin your engine.

That's the beauty of 4G's and 5G hatches... you don't need to parallel park. Just drive in...
