Default Prepping a B16A2

My friend asked me today, what he could do to improve a completly stock B16A2 to make it more turob friendly. He has limited funds, around $750, so what should I tell him?

If he really wants to turbo the B16A2, he should put a thicker head gasket on it to lower the compression ratio.

I would maybe look into upping the displacement to 1.7 or 1.8 too.

To lower the CR, I would recommend using GSR pistons (USDM P72-A0 = ~9:1; JDM P72-00 = ~9.5:1) or USDM ITR pistons (P73-A0 = ~9.75:1).

I guess what he's really worried about is having to beef up the engine, stuff like camshafts and cam gears. If he doesnt have to, he doesnt want to spend the money right away.

if he means stuff like that, i would just do a type r exhaust cam, exhaust, and a high flow cat. hopefully under 750. shop around, a used exhaust would be a good find.

You can get by running about 7 or 8 psi on stock.
