RE: prices???

ya i found a friend that has a gsr motor and trans at his moms house
and he said i could have it if i paid for shipping it only has 45k on it n he started to boost it but the car fell apart.
how much fab or how badly would that dent my pocket to drop it in.
meaning do i have to change crossmember...ecu wireing harness???
axles....i mean cause if i only have to pay u know 150 for shipping then another couple hundred on
the necessitys i might just go that way cause from what you guys are sayn it would be a good route for boost
and im going to be wanting to boost about 10 to 15lbs so i thuink a simple t3 t4 would do fine am i right..??????

RE: prices???

I'd be all over that if I were you. It shouldn't set you back more than $500-$700 to have someone else install it, and if you're doing your own work, it won't be nearly that much. And if you're looking for boost under about 18 lbs, you could get away with using a T-28, which would spool a bit better than a T3/T04. As for what you'll need, you're going to need a wiring harness, ECU, tranny, axles, shift linkage, engine mount kit, etc. I might be missing a couple things.

RE: prices???

:eek:well its going to come with motor and trans so there is a big weight lifted off me right there as money issues goes.
but ya i think i might just do that other wise if not the t3 t4 turbo which other one should i go with that will spoon fairly quick but give me
the power im lookn for out of this motor without blowing the **** out of it????

RE: prices???

I would say go with a GT-28RS, which spools almost as low as a T-25 and should be good for 350+ whp.

RE: prices???

before you put that in id buy a quife lsd and then take it to a transmission shop and fet carbon synchros put in with the lsd you can make all the power in the world but what good is it if you cant put it down?

RE: prices???

Well first of all, you're running a 4G hatch, so it WILL be the fastest GSR hatch in town (stock for stock, of course). I do think the LSD is going to be a necessity when you get the turbo on there (you can live without it on the stock engine, but it's going to be tough to keep the wheels down). You don't want to spend the next 10 years pulling 2nd gear launches; just ask sacicons... It will fit in with new mounts, axles, shift linkage, and all the other stuff you already know you need. BUT you are going to have problems with the hood clearing the upper timing cover, so you have two options: 1) Take it off (which of course will leave you with exposed cam gears) or 2) "Modify" your hood :D

RE: prices???

without the cam gear housing over the top of it do you think im still going to have some problems with clearence??? other wise if i am where can i go and get a new hood from at a decent price because if im already spendn this much money i dont want to have to spend a fortune on a hood otherwise is there any other hood from another car that would fit mine and still look half decent. Yea when i get this done tho i'll sure enough post some pix cause this will be a good sleepr in town untill i start on the body
