Revs Rising but no acceleration!!

Hi all

We have a 2006 cdti, which until recently has been pretty reliable, however my GF and I have both noticed that there is a problem. when trying to accelerate (in any gear), occasionally the revs rise as you would expect, but there is no accelleration, then there is a jerk and the car accellerates and the revs drop accordingly. When driving the car this evening, I was in 4th gear at about 2,000rpm I pressed the accellerator, the revs increased to about 3,000rpm but my speed didn't then the car suddenly accellerated and the revs dropped (as I guess they would). this is an intermitent problem and does not appear to follow any pattern.

Is this a known issue or can anyone suggest what it may be.

Thanks

James

sounds to me like the automatic tranny is slipping...
or maybe if its a clutch the clutch is burnt and just slipping or the pressure plate is worn or damaged.

i agree with addiction 100%. that happened to me a while back, got my clutch replaced, and the thing was burned up lol. new clutch and it pulls just fine, no slipping.

Have you checked the transmission fluid?
