Revving caused CEL?
Well, after having everything replaced..new block, new head, new manifold sensor, ect... My CEL's lights were fixed. After less than a week, I decided to rev it. I revved it up to 4k rpm, then to 7k rpm, it dropped back down to 4k and I rev it up to 7k again.
I got out of the car, went inside, came back out, and saw my CEL on. What would of made REVVING the car give me a CEL? |
RE: Revving caused CEL?
Any ideas? =/

RE: Revving caused CEL?
Depends on the code that was set. Could besomething simple likeplug wires. They can cut out at certain rpms if their going bad. It could be something major like it picked up an excessive amount of misfires because of to much fuel. You really need to find out what code it is.

RE: Revving caused CEL?
Dude you have to pull the code. there is no other real way to know what the problem is.
are you saying that this was the first time you broke 4k rpm on the new setup? |
RE: Revving caused CEL?
No, when I always revved it, I revved it up to 6k and stopped, this time it hit 7k rpm.. I'll have to wait and see when the code is pulled

RE: Revving caused CEL?
Found the problem,
The catalytic converter is under threshold, and he said I ended up redlining it. My bro said the catalytic converter was bad or going bad, and said that I would have to replace it, and it seems that its coming fairly soon. The mechanic also said this isn't a racecar, whoops.. haha EDIT: Didn't want to make ANOTHER topic, so I decided to edit my post here. Will replacing my timing belt quieten the annoying noise the belts seem to do? Because I don't want to have people hearing it, and think my car is gonna break down or something. You know? If you don't know what I mean, I'll go out and take a sound check :P |
RE: Revving caused CEL?
Also, if you love your car never rev it over 4k in neutral.
