Rockers

So my buddy says I need to adjust my rockers because that is what is causing the clackety clack in my engine :) Is this something relatively easy... before I go in there with a socket and start tightening - and breaking stuff?

It might be your valves ticking. I just had mine adjusted at the dealer ship. Made a big difference.

Yeehaw!!! I think your right 2slo4u, from the picture and the explanation on that site. I'll look into it. Thanks.

You can also do it yourself if you have a feeler gauge. Take the valve cover off, undo the nuts on the adjusters, then adjust them so you have .006 exhaust and .010 intake if I remember. Make sure those are the right numbers though. Tighten the bolts back up and put the valve cover back on.

Or you could always have someone else do it.

thanks man, yeah, the problem I was having is finding the right gap setting - no manual to my car :( But even if those # are close it will be good because they are rattlin' loud, and i can physically move the arms a bit. Thanks again.

Hahah that's what it was like when I put my cam in. They were so unadjusted that you could of put a penny to two pennys in between them. I'm pretty sure those numbers are right, but I'll take a look tomorrow when I can get to my Hatch cause it has a manual in it.

if i can recall the intake side is always smaller thickness than the exhaust.

as in .006intake and .010 exhaust.. for example

RE: Rockers

Your right. I checked today and it's Intake: 0.007-0.009 Exhaust: 0.009-0.011. Sorry about the mix up!

Just for anyone's future reference, it should say under your hood, too. I'd always go with those numbers unless you've changed engines or hoods.
