rpm number?

Default rpm number?

I have an 02 civic lx and whenI turn the car on its says its going at 1300rpm is that normal? [sm=smiley5.gif]

welcome to the forum! Anyway, I assume we're dealing with a cold start. What's the temperature outside? If it's cold-ish, 1300 sounds about right. At normal operating temperature, civics usually idle around 800rpm (assuming a low engine load). After driving the car for a while (once the engine warms up), let the car sit and idle. If it's still high, I'd say get it checked out.
