Default shopping list for motor build

so here is where i stand, i am goingto be starting a motor build for my civ. the plan is to either import a b18c and drop it in, or build a b16a from ground up. now i plan to eventually be boosting the car to make about 220whp. so the question is should i go b18 or b16? i heard that the b18 is a tricky install in my 97 sedan, but will be a better motor. if i build a b16, i am going all out if i can, i dont know what i can spend, but i am thinking 2g now for the motor in which i will build in auto shop, and then turbo later. can i build a strong motor for 2g? or should i order a complete b18c swap? if b16 is the way to go then i will need a shopping list totalling 2g, to build the strongest motor that can be turboed down the road

are you looking for a 220whp turbod motor b18?? or 220whp n/a motor before turbo?

my buddies b18c fully built runs 220whp on 5psi, and it is SCARY fast.

but if 220whp is your end goal i would just build the sohc you have now with a tight turbo build and run like 8 psi on at3/t4 turbo.if you have a y7 just do a mini me to a y8 or a z6, its pretty cheap for those heads.

ya, well the point is to havea reliable car for now, with some power, a mini me swap is just putting a vtec head on a non vtec motor right? wouldnt i need to tear down this motor and rebuild it if i want to put boost on it and have it reliable? i would just like more then 100hp, one day 220 would be nice, how much is a mini me swap gonna cost? would i buy a brand new head?

ok, so what kind of head is going to give me the biggest power gain with reliability? would it be a good time to do a cam as well? I saw the mini me swap thread but i noticed it was for 95 civic, will the process and shopping list be the same?

the b18 swap isn't tricky im lookin into doing it myself. the only thing that is anywhere near hard is the wiring, and even then its just about 5 wires. theres plenty of info out there on how to do it

well i decided to do a mini-me swap. not sure about what head i should use though? what sohc vtec head will be the best fit for my sohc non vtec 1.6? and will the step by step installation sticky be the same for my 97? being a noob i would rather just follow step by step instructions.

this is just a suggestion... why not use a ls/vtec with a b16 head it'll give u the same amount of performance as a b18c5 and with a turbo use forged type-r pistons, adjustable cam gears, race sparkplugs/ thicker wires and your set and it'll be alot cheaper but lik always qive it a good tune
