smoking exhaust
Hi, ive got a 95 hatch 1.6 vtec and have a problem, whenever the engine is rev'd high quite a lot of smoke comes out of the exhaust even when the engine warmed up, I dont think its burning oil and im pretty sure the gasket and cat are ok,so I was wondering if it was piston ring wear? and whether its a big job to fix?

RE: smoking exhaust
Ok read the 3rd post on the following link:
https://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_56...t/tm.htm#56770 My guess would be leaning towards oil burning. A lot of people say oil is blueish smoke, but there is such little hint of blue sometimes that it looks bluish/white or light grey/white. If it was excess fuel it would be dark grey or black. If it was coolant it would be white and have a sweet smell and look more like what it is- steam. But compression check is your next step to get closer to the root cause. |
