Default sound...?

what distincts thesound of the muffler system?...cause i hear some hell a nice civics....and ill see some rice cars that you cant tell they dont know what theyare doing and it sounds like hell....i thought if you were to put good engine or something it would make it sound decent....all i did on my past 94' civic was put the tip on and it sound marvalous...low pitch clean sound now gargal at all....and a friend of mine put a h22 in his 2 door accord and his car sounds the most horrific i have herd(havent told him that) ^.^....im just confused...im sure engine has not much really to do but hopefully understand what im tryin to say

engine, cam, intake, resonator, exhaust piping (diameter and material), cat, muffler....there are tons of things that can change the sound of your car. and yeah...a lot of the high performannce cars sound like ****. its just that way will basically all high performance cars (look at F1 cars...they have that ricey sound but its just because theyre spinning out crazy RPM's)

As long as you dont cheap out on a crappy muffler tip, you wont get that awful sound, but sometimes it comes out so that is when you have to change something else on the car like Nail I3unny mentioned.
