Springs and Retainers

putting in after market springs and retainers seems to be a common mod amongmany tuners. Whatis the main purpose behind replacing them and should there be other mods done before putting themin?
sorry for so many questions, im a newb.

a good mod to do in conjunction would be a set of cams but the reason behind springs is to make the valves not float with high lift cams and to provide better balabce at higher rpm's. The retainers go hand in hand with the valves and to tell the truth I do not feel like explaining it all because I'm lazy

haha, thanks
so would springs, retainers and a new stage 1 cam be a good mod or would I need to retuneit and do more?

Stage 1 cam is a waste, and stage 2+ requires tuning. Your choice ha.

so if i had a shop instal a stage 2 and tune it for me would it be worth it? or should i just go ahead and do rods pistons and valves while im at it?

I could show you a vid of a SOHC with head work only and it would knock your socks off
