hey all i have a 96 ex and i heard it has a vtec but its not like a real vtec is there anyway i could do some kind of conversion to get the full affect of a vtec do you just swap heads or is it a big complex thing

you have as much vtec as a single over head cam will allow

 

Vtec has always confused me. What exactly is it and what does it do? Please dont totally think im retarded and flame me i just really wanna know

 

basically a vtec cam has two sets of lobes, and when vtec engages it changes from one to another it shifts from one set of lobes to another. this changes timing, lift, duration, etc. so they are optimal in both lower and higher rpms.
