Swapping a D15 SOHC nonvtec to D16 SOHC VTec; help!
 

Hey guys,
My new motor (D16 SOHC Vtec) should be here any day. Right now I have a D15 SOHC non-Vtec w/ about 160,000 miles on it. I put a turbo kit on that motor (a bad idea w/ that many miles on it), and i'm burning about a quart and a half of oil a day. I was burning oil before I put my turbo kit on, but now nearly as bad. Now my car is just about non-driveable. I dont' want to have to swap out another motor, as this is getting expensive on me. Is there anything I can do to my new motor, before the swap, so I can boost it to about 7-9 PSI w/o messing up the internals on it. Any suggestions would be a major help. I'm going to be pulling my engine out myself and putting it back in. Thanks a lot guys!

congratulation on your new motor....and sorry to hear about your old one lol but atleast u got a better engine now...well if the engine has had a fresh rebuild, new head gasket and such it shouldn't be burning oil, and one of the most important factors with forced induction is the TUNE, the internals should be good for that low of boost as long as you have the tune haha, and anthing over that you should get some rods and pistons

you know what you could do? when you swap the engine out, keep the d15 and rebuild it. i know some pretty crazy combos you can use to get that sucker screaming on OEM parts. drop it back in the car, dyno it, run it at the track, then sell the engine for $$$$. youd be suprised..but people will pay more for a built engine than for a built engine in a car.

no i think you should build the D15. its a sweet platform to start off of.

check the orings too, that could be a minor problem. but jeez, thats a lot of oil. my car did that, and i could get to the bottom of it...had a 94 ex by the way, so i just said f it and got a b16
