Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
I need some more power. Would i see bigger gains from a larger throttle body or a new intake manifold? I know together they kick ass, but i'm lookin for just one or the other right now. Also, do i need fuel mapping done when i get this new mod installed?

RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
I'm gonna say go for the TB first if you aren't getting them together. And you shouldn't need fuel mapping/management but it wouldn't be a horrible idea to put it on the list for the near future.

RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
Alright. Is the throttle body the thing that the intake hooks up to? And if it is, won't i have to get a new intake to fit the larger throttle body?

RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
Yes the intake hooks up to the TB, but no you will not need a new intake, at worse you may need to replace the rubber connector piece between the two, and possibly a new clamp.

RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
Basically a BUMP
Any others opinions of Throttle Body VS. Intake Mani anyone? I know the answer to the fuel mapping question so theres no need to answer that one anyone :) |
RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
Depends on what intake manifold you already have.

RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
well i just have the stock intake mani from the '99 DX from a D16y7

RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
if you add a Y8 intake manifold you will have to change ur intake.. one is top mount other is side mount.. and i have never seen an aftermarket Y7 style intake manifold.. the design is way more restrictive and the y8 will bolt right up.. dont even know why honda made them different..

RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
would there be very many gains if i get a stock y8 intake manifold? Or is the skunk 2 really worth it?
|
RE: Throttle Body or Intake Manifold?
you will have to get sensors etc if u get a S2 manifold.. i ran into the same problem.. ended up returning the S2 and BBK TB due to the fact you need stock parts from a Y8 head anyways..from what i have read you will notice a slight gain with the stock Y8 IM though..
