Ticking/clanking

Ok so my friend has a 99 civic like mine and whenever he going slow or even on the brake at a stop light there is a ticking or clanking sound coming from his engine. What could it be? When he hits the gas when he is going slow and hits the gas it does it to. I don't know what it is.

but it doesn't do it when he is in park. Could it be something to do with rims or something idk much.

is it spark knock? like a noise coming from the valvetrain?

ShaTownCivic 08-11-2008 07:13 PM

I don't know. Where is that? Ok if its in reverse it does it or in drive it does it.

what octane and quality gas is he running? and what type of mileage is on the car? it could also be the heat shield vibrating from a broken bolt or something of the sort.

He uses 87. Mileage is around 110
