im curious of the price from the stealership for it...

i think mine needs done as well... ive concidered buying my parts from ebay and taking them to the dealership so i can at least save on parts $$wise....
im sure i can do it myself..... BUT for something so common to dealerships... id think they could do it quickly and right...

plus then id have proof it was done.....

it takes like 3-4 hours to do a timing belt and i know our shop charges i think about 75 bucks an hour then they have to make money on all the parts

ya thats why id buy the oem parts off ebay.. and just pay the instalation fee......

ive thought about doing it myself........ my problem would just be ive never done it before..... so im sure it would take me twice as long! and now that i dont have my truck anymore i dont have a good backup vehicle

I bought this kit

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-97...QQcmdZViewItem

It was like 115 shipped, all parts were in perfect condition, plus the 250 install ran me 375 total. Buy a kit from them, they are a trusted group of people, and their phone customer service is also good. Kit will get to you fast, take that to the mechanic, not the stealership, that you trust in your local area.

I would think 250 would be a pretty fair deal for the entire kit, because theres some work involved. Plus the coolant and all that will have to be drained, so you will be getting a fresh fillthere too. 300 would probably be pretty extreme.

My local Honda stealership quoted me $295.00 before I even mentioned that I had the timing belt, but that wouldn't include the water pump/aux belts, which you really should go ahead and upgrade.
