TIMING BELT ISSUES

I just replaced the timing belt on my 94 civic 1.5L. It started right up and everything seemed great. But, when I go to accelerate it wants to bog. I need to hold the gas pedal down for a few seconds to get the RPM's up. This seemed to be a pretty easy repair, it went really smooth up to now. I didn't think there was any way that I skipped a tooth putting the new belt on, but what do you think. I have a timing light but have only checked timing on V8's. How do I do it on this little guy?

RE: TIMING BELT ISSUES

ive posted this somewhere else, but here we go again, no big deal. there is a small hole on the top of the cam cover and at TDC, there is a hole in the cam that lines up with it. if you line them up and stick a small nail or allen wrench or something that fits snugly into them, it will hold the cam at TDC, then, line up the TDC mark on the crank pulley with the one on the t-belt cover. if they are all lined up, then its right on. hope this helps.

Well, I figured out it was a tooth off. Moved it back one tooth and she runs great. Thought I was careful not to move anything but I guess not. No harm done!

if its 180 out, it wont run. it will act like it wants to, but wont fire up.

yes it will it will just run bad at low rpm when you get up high it runs better. Know first hand expierence i know some body that had a 91 honda prelude B20A5 motor had a timing belt done a a shop cost was like three hundered and it ran worse when he got it back came over my friends and we checked it and it was 180 out . If you dont rotate the engine by hand 2 time and check it is very easy to get it out of time. it will not hurt any thing it will run ok but it will feel like it has no power.
