Timing Question

I have a question can i use a timing light to time my D15
I cant find a timing mark to go by so i'm kinda doubting it
I'm gonna miss the ease of timing the domestics sbc's are so easy

yes, you can time it with a timing light. on the crank pulley there should be 5 marks. the mark in the middle of the group of three is the setting you want to set it to. line that mark up with the v in the belt cover and another tab in the timing cover

How in the world did you get that pic? I tried like 57 times and I couldn't get one.

Btw- What would you say the timing in that pic is? 8-9* btdc? Or is it just a parallax view?

RE: Timing Question

the car wasnt running and the angle is a little off to get an acurate reading on the timing

I really hope you're not talking about not knowing where the TB marks are, because if you put it on a tooth or two off, then try to run the car, the only thing you're going to get is bent valves.

acctually the car will run being one tooth retarded and it wont bend the valves. it may be able to go more but i dont know that. i had a crx and the t-belt was loose. i was shifting into 3rd one day and hit a bump at the same time and it skipped a tooth. at cruising speed the car didnt seem different at all, but at idle and acceleration it was really rough
