Default transmission noise

Well I've had my car for a few months now but lately ive noticed the transmission making a strange sound here is what i know....

1)only makes the sound when in neutral, and sometimes in first
2)wrecks the whole sound of my car, sound is not flat and carrying on but like bump bump ...i cant describe it really
3)does not do it when i disengage the clutch

Also i've purchased a new clutch...would it be hard for me to install myself, I have all the necessary tools as my grandparents are farmers. Should i buy a flywheel before i installl? should i just get mine resurfaced?

Default RE: transmission noise

should be over in the Transmission/Differential thread, but i'll leave it. just for future referance.

i dont know what could be making the noise...im not that knowlageable on transmissions, but you should be able to replace the clutch yourself. its a long job unless you're pretty experienced but its pretty straightforeward. you could get an aftermarket lightened flywheel, itwill help you accel and decel faster, but you at least need to resurface the flywheel if you dont replace it. i know a guy who got his clutch replaced and the dude who did the work didnt resurface the flywheel and the guy was back in the shop getting the clutch replaced again within four months.
