cuase it's got the same specs as an LS and the v-tec is better than the z6. but he is rebuilding his z6 cause the z6 can hold more power than the d15b.

what the ****? no d15 has the same specs as an LS...and all vtec is the same...unless you mean the vtec LOBES which would make sense...because the JDM d15's head is a z6 head with a more agressive cam.

well that's his set up he's done a lot to it but won't say nothing. he just got it tuned two weeks ago. ended up running it at the tracks and blow his tranny. but it should be hitting low 13's maybe even 12's.

LOL I bet this dude was using a boost reliant FMU. He quite obviously didnt have a professional tune. Jeff Evans is a tuner based in PA........he has tuned honda hatches with SOHC motors up to 285 hp on a BONE stock motor...and they dont blow.......so your friend messed up or cheaped out somewhere.
how da flip did he manage to get 285 bhp on a SOHC Vtec engine? BONE STOCK? when you say motor do you mean just the engine block head? what kind of tunes did he do? how did he make those tunes? did he use aftermarket parts to uppen and handle the power? how was his method? what techniques did he use?

a standard stock SOHC VTEC engine is 125-130 bhp so how did he manage so much from only a SOHC engine? if he did use aftermarket parts, which parts in particular did he use? how much did he spend to make that amount of power from only a SOHC VTEC Honda engine?

Sorry for all the questions, im just VERY curious.............thnx!

its a stock motor.....it probably had ARP Headstuds and a thick commetic headgasket, but the internals were STOCK....the guy just knows what hes doing, and does it very well. If you want to go to his forum you can see dynographs of all kinds of cars hes tuned......lots of em are on stock internals and making good numbers..........oh yea theyre daily driven too.

pretty sure its www.evanstuning.com

285 ehhh? im sure that car wouldnt make it past a 2 year mark with those kinds of numbers unless he only boosted its like once every couple months, and the motor had less than 100,000 not possible with 180,000+ miles

err...that website seems to go to a search engine and doesn't mention anything about forums or cars....

not a good idea then to tune a stock car like Pete mentioned? best tuned only when bought new? could this be a cheaper option to increase your BHP without major modifications? is this even possible?

interesting on how you can get so much power from such small modifications just by tuning the engine...........wow
