VTEC question
OK, I'm new to the Honda world. As I understand it, the VTEC is suppose to kick in at a certain RPM. I was told it was like a very mild "turbo" type thing. Where as the valve timing changes. If I am wrong let me know. But, if this is true should I feel a significant kick at a certain RPM? I have an '02 EX w/1.7l motor. It accelerates well and smooth, but I don't feel the VTEC kick in so to speak. Thanks....

RE: VTEC question
Well, first of all yo ushould search this topic, and you will find many threads about it.. but, because i'm bored as **** sitting at work i'll answer your question. Yes, VTEC kicks in around 5500 RPMS, and you should here a slight change in tone (especially if you have aftermarket exhaust) and a slight change in feel. Its not going to put you back in your seat by any means, but you should notice it.

RE: VTEC question
So is it even possible that the "VTEC" is not working properly? Or is just something that you don't really notice. I mean after 5500 RPM's it really just sounds like the motor is revving normally.

RE: VTEC question
Anything newer than an 01 you wont really be able to hear it. It is some kind of intelegent thing that kicks in gradually.
Its there though. |
RE: VTEC question
