What can i get?
Hey up every one, i was on my way home from the lakes on sunday and my engine suddenly sounded very loud and knocking. pulled over checked oil & water evrything seemed fine let it cool down and tryed again. few miles later same noise but worst. anyway decided to get towed home and found that the bottom end is screwed.
i have a 1.4 carb in a n reg (95) civic marlin, i know the engine is wrong for the year of the car. so my question is, will a 1.6vtec from the same year of the carengine fit on the same mounts? has anyone done this conversion and is it easy? i will invest in all the running gear i.e gearbox loom ecu. or is it a case of sell wat i can and buy a 1.6vtec?

RE: What can i get?
when you say 1.6 vtec, i'll assume you are talking about a B16A. Complete swaps come at a good price and other supporting parts such as B seriesengine mounts are all over the internet and cheap. This is quite a potent upgrade for an EG civic given their light weight. It would be a good idea to spend that bit more and get a swap from a specialist dealer, preferably one which has been leak down and compression tested. If you have access to the tools, its straight forward. There are plenty of swap guides and suggestions/helpon the internet
If you meant a 1.6 D series engine (VTEC-E) then it is much easier and much cheaper still. I should imagine you'd only need the engine, if im not mistaken your existing D series parts/transmissionshould beinterchangable and would work with a 1.6 engine. D series swaps are practically free so the net cost would be minimal.

Is the b16a engine the same generation engine as my civic? sorry if its a daft question, i think i need to do some research. i understand about the mounts and the fact my parts/transmission should be interchangeable its the engine its self im not sure on. i have a budget of around £600, which i have seen engines on ebay for that price.
