What head
ok so i have a b18a1 motor i'm swapping into a 1990 4 door civic and i want to turn the car in to a drag car so i want to swap the head out on the b18a1 and put another head onto it but i'm really not sure what head i can put on it to gain more power so any help would be awesome. I would also like to know what head and other materials i would need to swap heads like what head gasket i need and if i need to change anything else to do this.

RE: What head
will a b16 head fit on a b18a1 block i didnt think that would fit. I was thinking about a b18c1 head.

RE: What head
the b16 and b18c's are vtec heads, meaning they wont "fit" on a b18a/b block. You have to get dowl pins put in (you can get a ls/vtec kit with all that stuff) and you need to run the vtec oil pressure line. I think with the b18 non-vtec blocks you will need to put in a knock sensor also
here are some links to good info...I have all these in my favorites cause im thinking of going the ls/vtec way http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/lsvtec/lsvtec.php http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/t...tec_head_swap/ http://honda.hybrids.jp/b20tech/index.shtml |
RE: What head
Hey thaks for the websites very very useful. Do know about how much hp the ls/vtec swap puts out.

RE: What head
That depends on a few things. Now I can say that it will put down over 200 hp to the wheels for sure (n/a) Check out this thread and look for builds with a b18a/b block. I say your best bet to get some more power is to use the b16 head not the b18c's.
You have to type in honda - tech where the *** are... http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread/1583606 |
RE: What head
now if i go with the b16a head what ecu and wiring harness will i have to run?
