wich engine would be good

well to start out o have the stock d15 engine and tranny we probably all know that this motor and tranny is weak!, now im looking for a little more power and speed i want to do a engine and trans swap and i want an engine that would be worth "beefing up" now i was leaning to the 1.6l i just found out that ther is a b16 and a d16 whats the difference? and keep in mind i do not have a lot of money so im gonna do a little at a time! also could i rebuild the trans that i have to a 1.6 trans?

B series is DOHC
D series is SOHC
forget d and b and put in a K24

the exception to this rule is the D-series DOHC ZC motor

But yea, that's the main difference. The B-series have more power stock than a stock D-series also, and that's attributed to the fact it is DOHC.

get a B16 VTEC, or a B18 VTEC
another option, my personal favorite, is an H22A VTEC

If your looking for cheep than your prolly gonna go with a d16, maybe a y8a or something. As far as having a motor "worth" beefing up I'd go with at least a b16. I'm swapping motors and I plan on putting in a b18c7 or a c5 (usdm) which is the jdm integra type-r motor. I think theres only like a 10 horse diffrence but I like to have something a little more rare to kind of stand out from the other b swapped civics. The reason for a b18 is they're a little lighter and the swap is a little more common so it shouldent be too difficult. Id love to go h22 or b20a but i'd be ok boosting a 1.8. :-)

hmmm... how about you save up your money over the years and buy another car like a Nissan 300zx TT or a Toyota Supra?

bcivic 09-16-2008 07:08 PM

boost the d15

V8DIET 09-17-2008 07:33 AM

Supra's slay all! I'd love to have a supra. It's tough to find one under 30 grand, low miles that has not been modified.

bcivic 09-18-2008 05:53 AM

Boosted civics could destroy a stock supra for a 3rd the price even a few N/A civics would beat supras in the quarter for a 3rd the price a supra costs

V8DIET 09-18-2008 07:59 AM

true they could. you figure stock supra about 27grand. or stock civic for 3 grand. then put 10 grand into the civic and you've got a supra killer for about 1/2 price! :-) Plus they are way more fun to drive. lol

bcivic 09-18-2008 08:02 AM

well im sure they both would be fun to drive. wish I could throw 10 grand at my civic.
