would it be worth the effort
i have the '91 body (si hatch) and i have the engine still from my '88 hatch, and from the si. the si has a crack in the number one cylinder. so, would there be any benefit in taking the d15 block and d16 head, i may do it just because all the parts are there, no cost. but if it would run as strong as the si did, pre-crack, then i would most deffinately do it. or how would that setup respond to turbo? it may just be time to start my first turbo!!!

what d15?

RE: would it be worth the effort
not sure at the moment, but it was only from a dx hatch, def nothing special;

d15b2. id sell the d16a6 block for scrap, the head on ebay, and the whole d15b2 on ebay. get yourself a nice JDM d15b.

that just may be pure genius, but im going to wait till i finish the b16.

RE: would it be worth the effort
thats what id do too. still...you have two uber fast screamers of hondas in the end...who really cars if you wait a little bit.

RE: would it be worth the effort
im tired of waiting on this b16, im getting sick of hearing myself ta;lk about it, haha. but it is progressing again. i pick up the head tommorow, just had sk2 valves, retainers, springs, and new seals installed, and had it milled just a little bit to ensure a good gasket seal. with that, the thin head gasket, and stage 2 cams, im hoping to get some good compression and hp...

RE: would it be worth the effort
how much did you mill it?
|
RE: would it be worth the effort
it had a couple scratches across the surface, so just enough to remove those and make certain it was nice and flat

RE: would it be worth the effort
usually they go about .010", so that would put you to about 10.7, or slightly higher.
