Yellow stuff on Valves?

Just getting ready to do a mini me, and on some of the valves on the head I bought, there is no carbon, just a ruff yellow substance. What is this? How did it get there? Is it anything to worry about?

Might be carbon.....It is only on the valves marked A8. Any way to get it off without damaging the valves??
