i was talking to a friend about the k20 engine going into an 01 ex and basically he told me that the k20 to hella over rated. He strongly encourges anyone who is thinkin about the k20 should look into the k24. It has almost the same amount of hp (200) and a good amount of tourque (170). He also said that the 24 is MUCH easier to install. Its also damn cheaper. The only thing is that you will need either a type R or S tranny. But that can easily be imported. So why is everyone so hyped up over the k20. the 24 w/ tranny will run about 4500 which is still cheaper than the 20 engine alone!! So is he right or........................well is he right.

the K24 is not easier. its basically the same block(externally, the internals are a lot different) but without using a K20 head, you will have a hell of a time getting the damn thign to run right. the K24 uses a drive by wire throttle, meaning the pedal sends a signal to the ECU, whcih in turn sends a signal to the throttle plate, which then opens. the K20 has a standard throttle cable. this is the old H22 Vs B18c5 debate. if you like torque more than revs, go with the K24 (or H22) and if you like revving to 8K+, go with the K20 (or B18c5) its more a matter of taste than which one is "better" and no one is anywhere near finding the limits of any of the K series yet, so saying they are overratted is way premature. and if you are paying 4500+ for a K20 motor only, you need new suppliers. Im thinking I could do them for locals for about 7K, installed. and that includes the mounts, which are almost a grand themselves.
