Newbie on Engines

Hi Everybody! I am such a newb. :( Can somebody tell me what kind of engine the 2005 Civic Si has? I've been trying to read about it but I'm so confused now. I feel so stupid. :( What are EP, EP3, K20, K24, & etc? Please help. Thanks so much in advance for all the help. :)

A 2002+ Si has a K20A3 motor and has a code of EP3. EP3s i believe are specifically the Si's. Not 100%.

RE: Newbie on Engines

A 2005 Civic Si will have a K20A3, which is a DOHC I-Vtec engine producing 160 HP at the crank. EP refers to the chasis code on a 2002 or newer Si. The full chasis code is EP3. The K20 is the motor found in the Si, RSX and RSX Type-S. The Si and the base RSX share the exact same engine. The Type-S uses the K20A2, which is a DOHC I-Vtec engine that produces 200 HP at the crank (210 on 2005 models). The K24 is a frankenstein motor, head from an RSX Type-S and the block from a CRV, TSX, etc. Hope this helps. PM me if you have any other questions on 7th gens.
