Default 2011 civic lx mpg

My 2011 civic lx has mpg of around 19, I drive mostly highway, and some city, however it's cold here in NY around this time, should I be concern?

While the cold will lower your mpg a little bit, 19 mpg is WAY too low. With mostly highway driving it should get mid thirties.

Does the fact that it's under 1k mile effect mpg?

Have you been warming it up just before you drive or do you just jump in the civic & drive?
Even if you're not driving down the street you're still using the same amount of gas at idle.

I usually let it warm up for a little before I drive. By the way, I found out that my dad always always take my car and drive my mom to work(city driving, no highway) and when I drive to work on highway, it's only 10 miles one way, with some up hills.

I have the same issue....I recently bought a 2011 civic LX-S.......
came with full tank of gas...it gave me total of 225 miles, city/highway combined
next refill 235 miles, city/highway
I think it will get better after 1k miles, since the engine is in its break-in period.

P.S - I am also in Queens, NY

I measure mpg by reset trip meter every time I gas up the tank, and then divide the amount of gas I bought over the mileage I drove.
I got oct # 89 for past 3 tanks, and as weather gets warmer, mpg went up from 20 to 25.
However, on page 246 of owner's manual states "Fuel economy may improve over the first several thousands miles" therefore I went back to oct # 87 gas.

It will improve when the car gets over 1,000 miles my 09 lx sedan did. Estimating gas mileage in a new civic is tricky tho what i do is fill the tank till i see gas in the neck, then drive that tank out & do the same when i fill up again.
